The Lounge at the Spread Eagle, Midhurst
The lounge of the Spread Eagle Inn
A highlight of our regular trips to the town of Midhurst, England is at least one evening in the lounge of the Spread Eagle Inn. There’s nothing that staves off a cold winters evening chill better than sipping a gin or sinking a local ale, nestled in a cozy couch by one of the large open fires.

Christmas at an old English Coaching Inn
The Spread Eagle is a 14th Century Coaching Inn set in the oldest part of the ancient market town of Midhurst. It has played host to several well-known people during its long history including H.G. Wells, Hillaire Belloc and Lord Nelson.
The inn is now an up-market hotel and spa, but the Restaurant and Lounge are open to the public. So if you are in the area and looking for a local pub with character and history, drop in and warm yourself by the fire.
This photo was taken Christmas time 2015. We spend a lot of time with family who lives in Midhurst and often visit the local pubs. The Spread Eagle is a firm favorite.
