The lounge of the Spread Eagle InnA highlight of our regular trips to the town of Midhurst, England is at least one evening in the lounge of the Spread Eagle Inn. There's nothing that staves off a cold winters evening chill better than sipping a gin, or sinking a local ale, nestled in a cozy couch by one of the large open fires.
Christmas at an old English Coaching InnThe Spread Eagle is a a 14th Century Coaching Inn set in the oldest part of the ancient market town of Midhurst. It has played host to several well known people during its long history including H.G. Wells, Hillaire Belloc and Lord Nelson.
The inn is now an up-market hotel and spa, but the Restsraunt and Lounge are open to the public. So if you are in the area and looking for a local pub with character and history, drop in and warm yourself by the fire.
This photo was taken Christmas time 2015. We spend a lot of time with family who live in Midhurst and often visit the local pubs. The Spread Eagle is a firm favourite.
