Patuxent Research Refuge is the only National Park in the Unites States focused on wildlife research. Consisting of 12,841 acres of various types of habitat the refuge was established in 1936. The Patuxent Research Refuge is made up of two sections, the north and south tract and has various interesting walks and trails to enjoy. The South Tract has a visitors centre and runs a guided tour during the summer.
